Biography

Šimun Stankov (1996) is a professional dance artist, performer, author, stage movement collaborator, and DJ active in the independent art scene. He graduated in 2018 from the Department of Contemporary Dance at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, specializing in performance. That same year, he received the Rector’s Award for his performance in the student production For Four. After graduating, he has worked as a performer and author in numerous theater productions, music videos, and site-specific performances. He is one of the founding members of the artistic organizations Škvadra and Arbajt Kolektiv, which form the foundation of his creative work.

Since 2014, he has participated in various projects with domestic and international artists such as Simone Aughterlony, Grzegorz Jarzyna, Matej Kejžar, Francesco Scavetta, Petra Hrašćanec, Saša Božić, Clement Layes and others. He has collaborated as a choreographer and stage movement associate with the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, the Zagreb Youth Theatre, and the Dubrovnik Summer Festival. For his performance in the production Kolo, he was nominated for the Croatian Theater Award in 2020, and in 2024, he won the award for his performance in the Arbyte 2.0.

He was one of the performers representing the Croatian Pavilion in Tomo Savić-Gecan’s work Untitled (Croatian Pavilion 2022) at the Venice Biennale. Starting in 2024, he is a regular assistant in the Stage Movement course at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, Acting department.

From 2019 to 2021, he was one of the editors and curators of the music show Zvučni zid on Radio Student and is a regular DJ in the local club scene.

He is a first-year student in the Master’s program in Performance Practices at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem.
