Arbajt

With the exhibition Arbyte 1.8, the Arbajt Collective continues its exploration of the relationship between art and labor. However, the Split context provides a different framework for Arbajt, situating it within the “concrete giant” where artistic work played a crucial role in its lengthy process of revitalization.

“By using striking objects from construction sites as sites of measurable work, we aim to make artistic work visible in order to highlight the social role of art and artists,” explains the accompanying text of the exhibition, realized in a hybrid format that includes photographs, videos, actions, and performances. “In the end, with a dose of humor but also irony, we pose the question – how many artists are needed to build a Youth Center? And haven’t they built it themselves?” concludes curator Tena Starčević in the accompanying text.
